Dealey Plaza is a 3-acre public park at the intersection of Main, Elm, and Commerce Streets in downtown Dallas — the site of President Kennedy's assassination on November 22, 1963. The Sixth Floor Museum occupies the former Texas School Book Depository, the building from which Lee Harvey Oswald fired. Exhibits cover the Kennedy presidency, the assassination, the Warren Commission investigation, and the cultural impact of November 22. Adult admission is $18 with an audio tour included; plan 2–3 hours. The grassy knoll and the sniper's vantage point from the 6th floor are the most-visited points.

Deep Ellum Arts District Must-see

Deep Ellum runs along Elm Street and Commerce Street east of downtown Dallas — a 35-block district with 80+ hand-painted murals, independent restaurants, 20+ music venues, and bars open until 2 AM. It emerged as Dallas's blues and jazz district in the 1920s and was revived as an arts corridor in the 1990s. Street parking is free on weekends after 6 PM in most of the district. Thursday through Saturday nights draw the largest crowds. The Deep Ellum Outdoor Murals Project maps 84 murals by address — find it at local venues.
Right for nightlife, music, and street art travelers wanting Dallas's best evening district; 35 blocks of murals and 20+ music venues hit their stride after 8 PM. Free to walk — the energy is entirely different from Fort Worth's Stockyards culture 30 miles west.

Where to stay: Uptown Dallas hotels are 2 miles from Deep Ellum and walkable to Klyde Warren Park's greenway. Downtown hotels on Commerce Street put you steps from Dealey Plaza.
Book ahead: Sixth Floor Museum tickets can be purchased online. Weekends are busy — buy 2–3 days ahead in summer. Deep Ellum venues vary; most require no advance ticket for walk-in nights, but check individual venue listings for ticketed shows.
Getting around: DART light rail connects Love Field Airport to downtown in 20 minutes ($2.50). The McKinney Avenue Trolley (free) connects Uptown to downtown. Deep Ellum is a 15-minute walk or short rideshare east of Dealey Plaza.
